How Many Are Still Serious About Going Out and Spreading the Word?

March 5, 2006

Thank you. Please sit down.

Are you concerned about all this sectarian violence around the world? It's bad, isn't it? It seems like it's getting worse. I think it's only going to get worse before it gets any better. That kind of sectarianism, the divide will increase on the religious level, economical level, and political level. We will just see more of it before it changes. So, how did you join? How did you join this church? Why did you join the church? How many people are still going out there and trying to reach out and still keeping the faith and doing the duty of trying to spread the word, spread the news? How many people are truly serious about that mission of educating the rest of the world based on the Principle that was taught by Father? You see, even in our church, of course Father wants to institutionalize more and more. Why? Because he's 86 and in 2012, he will be 92. As days go by, he's only going to get older. He's not going to get any younger. That's for sure.

But it seems like we still have to hold on to certain things because of who we are. It doesn't matter if the recent climate is political. That does not make everybody just run out and try to be a second-rate politician. I've seen that kind of stuff many times. There is this hoop-la and everybody rolls over there, and next, everybody wants to get into business. Whether it's in politics, business, trying to become an educator or whatever, those kinds of fads exist even in our church. I don't think our lives should be governed and dictated by fashion. Think about trying to make a change in somebody. It's going to take a long time. If you ever had to take care of some young members, it takes years and years. Let's say that person has an attitude problem, arrogant and so pleased with himself. Dealing with that kind of situation takes a whole lot of effort. And change doesn't happen overnight. You have to be a parent, you have to be a teacher, and sometimes you have to be sometimes a friend, even a brother or a sister. You have to play a whole host of roles and do all sorts of work. You have to do just about everything under the sun including a whole lot of stuff, like counseling or therapy. Whatever it demands at any given moment, that's what you have to do just to save one soul, just to help one guy, some young guy, a new guy, or a new gal. That's just the reality.

And how can we expand if we lose something that is so true and valuable, something that just doesn't change? It's just like the concept of rearing children as a parent. Parenthood, it is universal. What works never changes. Regardless of what your religious beliefs and disciplines may be, it doesn't matter. Some things are universally true. And there are universal truths. Yes, it works. What we are trying to do, and what we are trying to say is that we are unique, and our uniqueness represents God more than anybody else. So be it. Before you say that, you have to apply universal truth to our life and to our actions, to our belief and actions. Otherwise, all that stuff, unique stuff, doesn't matter. It will not sell. How can you move somebody with this if you can't convince them or persuade them? It doesn't matter. Even in just trying to sell even a cookie or cereal, somebody has to see the value in it before they purchase it. Even in business, it's trying to make money, dealing with inanimate things, and you are going out there trying to make money. So be it. That has to be proven. By what?

By the quality of your product. How can we prove ourselves as what we say we are? We can never lose sight of that fundamental universal truth. If you are going to make a difference, that's how you have to do it. If you are going to institutionalize, certain things have to be bedrock. Certain things have to be fundamental before you start expanding and growing.

You hear so much information out there. There are so many human stories and life stories. There's a lot of stuff. I read it sometimes, but it gets lost in translation, I guess. Some people just don't get it because it's not translated properly or not translated in time. There's such a long delay of things. When you are living in a world of expediency and convenience, that becomes a real serious problem because you can look like an idiot. You look like an inefficient system. How do you prove to the world that we are better? And all the while more and more people are just becoming more fashion oriented based on whatever is given at hand in one moment. Those things are important things that we have to always address because if we don't, we'll lose it all one day. The word might stay, but it's going to take a longer time to bring it back.

Father will go down in history. Yes, sure, absolutely. He will. But what about you? What about your children? I guess the only solution is to practice that stuff, isn't it? You have to go out and try that again. That's the only way. Do it, and bring more people, and try to reignite that fire that was once lost. Step by step, one person at a time. If that's what it takes, that's what you have to do. There is no shortcut to greatness. There is no shortcut to success. Maybe there is in America. You may win a lottery, how many people do that stuff? Think about it.

Because of all the separation and misunderstanding people have perpetuated against each other, therefore this kind of sectarian violence is back. It's observable all around the world. Even when you think about all those crazy so called Muslims who hate America, they do have an issue that we can understand. Why? Because America is the land of the most powerful capitalism. Based on that and freedom, so many things are guaranteed and protected even if you have questions about certain methods, certain ways, and certain things that are accepted. You can understand why they want to blow up Americans, "the great devil." Of course, you can't give condolence to those kinds of things, but they do have a reason for their action. And we live with them. It's difficult for us to change. So, that's why they try to blow you up. That's all they know I guess. But they want change. People want to be better, People want to feel joy in life and have something to be proud of. They want something that gives them those things. They want that kind of prosperity and whatever happiness that comes from it. Sure, no problem. But there are ways in which you can go about achieving that, and there are questionable methods. And as long as there is a questionable method, it's going to be very difficult to bring about any kind of permanent stability.
