Preface
God created human beings as His children. He gave our first ancestors, Adam and Eve, three great blessings, to be fruitful, to multiply and to have dominion over all of creation. They were to become the True Parents of humankind. As they were growing to maturity, however, they tragically fell, causing God agony rather than joy.
In order to restore the position of the True Father, lost through the Fall, Rev. Sun Myung Moon fulfilled all necessary conditions of indemnity. In 1960, he was blessed in marriage with Hak Ja Han, whom God had prepared to become the True Mother, in the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. For the first time in history, one couple had achieved God’s ideal. They took responsibility as the True Parents, and based on the Word of God and through their all-embracing love, they became the good ancestors of humankind. They bore and raised children, thereby achieving the ideal of a God-centered four-position foundation, and established the tradition of the heavenly family for which God had longed since the time of Creation.
With the mission of the Messiah and Returning Lord, True Parents fought against Satan and triumphed both on earth and in the spirit world. Achieving oneness in heart, oneness in body, oneness in thought, and oneness in being with God, they became His substantial object partners in love. As the True Parents, True Teachers and True Owners, they have demonstrated sacrificial and unconditional love for all people. They have created a path to world peace, bringing to a conclusion God’s providence of restoration, thereby liberating Him from His bitter sorrow over the loss of His children.
Following True Father’s Holy Ascension (Seonghwa), True Mother emphasized that the core of his absolute and eternal teachings should be compiled into three scriptural works. It is not easy to fathom the depths of True Father’s teachings, which cover a tremendous range of subject matter, as wide as the sky and as deep as the ocean. The resulting volumes strive to capture the essence of True Parents’ teachings, drawn from the vast wealth of their recorded spiritual and practical guidance.
Chambumo Gyeong (True Parents’ Scripture), the final volume of the trilogy, records in True Parents’ own words their life courses, the history of the activities they have initiated and inspired, and the major providential events over which they have presided. The text is arranged thematically under thirteen main titles, with a chronology as the concluding chapter. Selected passages are referenced (source and date) in a separate booklet.
True Parents’ personal testimony therefore forms the backbone of this volume. Their remarkable life courses, from birth, through childhood and adolescence, to receiving Heaven’s call, are all described. The text outlines the meaning of True Parents’ Holy Wedding and their providential work for the salvation of all people and for world peace, leading up to the proclamation of Cheon Il Guk (the Cosmic Nation of Peace and Unity). Chambumo Gyeong thus reveals God’s central work in the modern age, etched in True Parents’ blood, sweat and tears. In each chapter of the book, True Parents’ words are supplemented with background information.
The three scriptural works constitute a cornerstone of Cheon Il Guk, and will guide all who read them, over the generations to come, as they settle and blossom God’s kingdom in the world. True Mother officially received the Cheon Il Guk version of Cheon Seong Gyeong (Heavenly Scripture) on the Foundation Day of Cheon Il Guk in 2013, along with Pyeong Hwa Gyeong (Peace Scripture) on the same day, and the present volume, Chambumo Gyeong, on Foundation Day in 2015.
God is calling on us to become the heirs to the mission of completing Cheon Il Guk, by incorporating True Parents’ teachings contained in the Cheon Il Guk scriptures into our daily lives and by following True Parents’ example of true love. is is the hope and wish of True Parents, who have dedicated their lives to following the Will of God.
We return praise and our deepest gratitude to God and to the True Parents of Heaven, Earth and Humankind for bestowing on us Chambumo Gyeong. We hope and pray that this English translation from the original Korean text will convey God’s spirit, truth and boundless grace, that it will touch your heart, and that the blessing of God will remain with you forever.
